The week-long observance is to recognize the contributions made by professional pet sitters, many of whom spend 12 to 14 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year providing in-home care of thousands of pets of all kinds. Pet Sitters International makes an annual charitable contribution during Professional Pet Sitters Week to a worthwhile animal-related organization with money raised from our convention's annual charity auction. June 4 Each year we celebrate our anniversary by donating a portion of our sales from the week to a very deserving local animal organization. We couldn't do it without you! THANK YOU!!! Take Your Dog To Work Day! June Pet Sitters International is the founder of this US event which celebrates pet adoption from shelter/rescue groups and promotes pet-friendly employers. It is a day specifically for dog owners to take their well-behaved, housebroken and socialized canine family members to work with them (with the boss' permission, of course!). Pet Sitters International created this event in 1999 to celebrate the great companions that dogs make and to encourage adoption from rescue groups and shelters. Bringing your dog to work can allow pet-less co-workers to see what a wonderful relationship you have with your dog. They may be encouraged to adopt their own dog. And if they see well-behaved, friendly dogs, this will only encourage them more. That's where Wishbones for Pets comes in. Wishbones for Pets is a charitable program desinged to give professional pet sitters the opportunity to collect much needed supplies for pet rescues within their own communities. Sit n' Stay Pet Services is proud to be the Western New York sponsor for Wishbones for Pets and has chosen HEART Inc, and Messinger Woods as it's beneficiaries for 2006. Sit n' Stay Pet Services will host the program October 23rd thru November 22nd.
